The graduate Program in Natural Resources Biotechnology (PPGBiotec), offers master and doctorate courses. Since 2013, almost 86 degrees have been awarded, between masters (50) and doctorates (36). Our program was awarded a “Level 5” score (max score = 7) in the last evaluations from “Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior” – CAPES, corresponding to the last four years period 2017-2020. This prominent position among graduate Biotechnology centers in the Northeast of Brazil has attracted students from other brazilian states. The main objectives of PPGBiotec are: to train students to be leaders in research and development in industry or government, train students to be faculty members at colleges and universities and contribute significantly to the scientific and technological development of the biotechnology area.
Since its foundation the PPGBiotec has cultivated a transdisciplinary culture with of the research-active faculty from others university departments or national research institutes (FIOCRUZ https://ceara.fiocruz.br/portal/ and EMBRAPA https://www.embrapa.br/agroindustria-tropical). This rich environment of exchanges has led to a high scientific productivity.
